Montanejos: warm-water pools and essy escape from Valencia

Montanejos, in Castellón and less than two hours from Valencia, is home to the Fuente de los Baños: a warm-water pool, around 25 °C all year round, right by the Mijares river. Close by I love the Arenós reservoir, a blue lake surrounded by mountains, and the village itself is small and has great places to eat. In summer I’d get there early, because by ten the pool is already filling up, and I’d always check capacity limits and rules before going. In autumn and winter it’s a quiet getaway.
